His first novel was finished in 2017, getting republished under a different name in 2019. He finished a follow up novel in 2019 that was published early 2020. Aron is now writing in his name spoke.
Welcome to Wonderland is to be the debut film of Aron Thompson, making him one of the youngest filmmakers. Before the completion of his first feature film, Aron completed eleven short films, under his self funded production company Beyond the Sea.
Writer – Director
Aron created a new wave called Grime Filmmaking. From 2016-2018 he successfully produced eleven short films under his own production company Beyond the Sea. After the critical success of his early work he started work on his debut feature film, Welcome to Wonderland, production was finished 2019.
Most of Aron’s early work was either never completed or lost in time. It’s not clear what Aron worked on in film school but we do know he was often criticised for his work having no structure and being too long. Between the year 2013 – 2014, Aron would write film scripts in Doncaster cafe’s but it’s not known what happened to those scripts. In 2016 he completed a written thesis on film called Detachment. Wanting to originally become a film critic, he wrote many well merited film reviews.
The first thing Aron ever shot was a fashion show, Aron famously forgot to turn the camera on, thus he never filmed the event, it was the back up cameramen that saved him. In his first year of film school he made a 60 second short film and a music video. The music video was the first time Aron played with colour which can be seen in his later work. Between the year of 2014-2015 he also worked in TV shooting an ident.
In 2016, he continued building his craft, finishing his final year major project, Acceptance. A 27 minute short film, Aron hates this film, Two Birds, his first creation outside of film school was what he was originally trying to go for whilst filming Acceptance.
Acceptance wasn’t allowed to be played in his graduation ceremony. Instead a short film he made earlier in the year was played. Aron never took this bad, instead he began his path in to filmmaking solo.
NOVELS
Growing up Aron hated writing, his handwriting scruffy and his stories over the top and lazy. Aron was lucky to have a great English teacher who opened his eyes academically, In 2013 Aron began writing for pleasure.
Aron would scribble down what he was feeling in little notebooks, on returning home in 2019, Aron found boxes of notebooks making him smile. It wasn’t till 2016 Aron started taking his writing serious. Drunk in his friends dorm room kitchen, he was found writing by one of his friends peers. This girl was studying creative writing and convinced Aron to write a novel. This girl would later edit both of Aron’s Novels.
Aron is now writing without a pen name, working on a travel book. Aron is also working on a campaign to get the world to take up writing called, Writing Our World Back.

First picture taken as a director, aged 18, 2014.
